5 Ways I Create a Passover Seder Everyone Can Eat — Passover 2015

Passover has a lot of inherent food restrictions. The no bread thing is a given. But oats, barley, spelt, and rye are also off limits, as is anything made from wheat flour (which is basically everything). For many Jews, particularly those of Eastern European (Ashkenazi) descent who tend to be more stringent, corn, rice, legumes, soybeans, lentils and all sorts of other unexpected staples are also off the table. Phew. Throw a macrobiotic guest or a severe allergy into the mix, and planning a meal for the seder can feel intimidating.

But believe me — someone who has hosted a Passover meal for vegans (after all, I used to be one), a gluten-free cousin, and a nut avoidant friend — it can be done.

Here are five tips to craft a delicious and inclusive meal.

5 Tips for Living Without a Garbage Disposal — Tips from The Kitchn

When I became an adult with my own kitchen, one of the biggest surprises of renting was how few apartments come equipped with garbage disposals. Although I dump most of my food scraps in the compost bin or garbage, I still like the convenience of rinsing away the last few grains of rice or container of stinky leftover soup down the drain with the help of a garbage disposal.

Unfortunately I'll have to add it to the Future Dream Kitchen list; the reality is that the majority of apartments I have rented haven't had garbage disposals. But I think I've finally gotten the hang of keeping my kitchen sink clean, unclogged, and odor-free with the help of these five tips.
